The M2 has a larger triangle shaped saftey button at the back of the trigger gaurd. The Xtrema 's is round and at the front of the trigger gaurd. The M2 has as mid height rib to the Xtrema 2's low rib. The M2 has the adjustable soft comb which is a nice feature., Plus the aftermarket is larger for the M4, the 1301 has a more limited aftermarket. The 1301 is much lighter, which can be plus for certain uses, but home defense isn't one of them. It's also quite a bit cheaper, locally the 1301 is $1100 and the M4 is $1800, if money is at all a concern get the 1301, it's an amazing gun.
