Thunderstorm is an "I win" button, if you have some INT and aero, Pyroclastic Eruption is a monster at close quarters (up to 15 k damage), and several of the other AEs are pretty good, even if not in that class (e.g. chain lightning)., Pyroclastic Eruption has a 300% damage multiplier on it and by comparison the other Storm/Rain spells have 100% multipliers outside Hail Storm which if I recall is 25% so with Pyroclastic Eruption you're getting that turn based damage all up front.
