Thompson/Center™ Muzzleloaders. In 1970, Thompson/Center entered the Black Powder market with the introduction of their first muzzleloading rifle, the Hawken™. Muzzleloading interest at that time was minimal. The market needed an innovative, quality rifle that would not only preform, but could be purchased at a reasonable price.

My personal Traditions brand St. Louis Hawken, assembled from a kit. For a Hawken Rifle in the 21st century, there are four major brands - Traditions, Investarms, Lyman, and Pedersoli. You will hear a lot about T/C, Thompson Center, brand Hawkens but they are NOT made anymore. The only Thompson Center Hawkens you will find for sale are used.The CVA Hawken was a contemporary of the Thompson/Center Hawken and debuted in the 1980s. While they were later produced in Spain, several of the original models were made in the USA and featured Douglas Barrels.
