Chevy malibu shift to park fix
The Shift to Park issue affects 6 different GM models of cars from 2016 - 2019. I'm not one to sue GM, but come on, GM leaving out a $0.10 part and not issuing a recall is wrong. And to make matters even worse, GM is making inconveniencing the car owner with an unreliable car AND making in many cases making the car owner pay for the repairs.
Fixing a shift to Park message on a Chevy Malibu is the same as fixing it on all other vehicles affected by the shift to Park recall. According to the technical service bulletin, you need to replace the Park switch, Park switch harness, and the Park switch plastic cover. But you fix the problem by bending the metal tab on the switch too.

Jul 29, 2023 · REPAIR NOT A BYPASS! PROBLEM: From my searches about the same problem, I believe I have discovered the real issue going on here. The switch itself is well made internally, the travel on the spring tab of the switch surpasses needs to activate and the activator rod of the shift lever also surpasses necessary travel limits.
